Too close to call: Main Street and Riverside Plaza are within 12% of each other, so decide between them on rent, parking and visibility. Oak Hill Center is clearly behind.

Answers the real question

Not just population: the customers who fit your business within a 15-minute drive, their total income, and how many you’d win from nearby competitors.

Plain words, every number explained

Every figure has an ⓘ that says what it means and what it can’t tell you, in a sentence or two. You don’t need to know anything about maps or the Census.

Honest about close calls

The figures are estimates. When two sites are within 12% of each other, PlaceYourBusiness says it’s too close to call instead of pretending one is better.

How it works

  1. Pick your kind of business

Start from a ready-made setting (coffee shop, restaurant, gym, salon, game store) that says how far people will drive and which ages and incomes count as your customers. Adjust it if you know better.

  2. Add the places you’re considering

Type an address or click the map. PlaceYourBusiness draws the area within your drive time of each site and counts the people who live there.

  3. Add your competitors, if you like

Mark nearby businesses that sell what you sell and answer two quick questions about each. PlaceYourBusiness estimates how many customers each site would win.

  4. Compare

See each site scored against the best one, whether the gap is big enough to matter, and exactly how every number adds up, neighborhood by neighborhood.

You can share a project with a partner, lender or broker, as view only or so they can make changes, and download any comparison as a spreadsheet.
